Dear Mr.
Patterson:
North Carolina
greatly values the jobs and
investment that Daimler Trucks North America and its predecessor companies
have brought to our state over the past few decades.
We share a keen interest in the company’s success, especially in
these uncertain economic times.
As
North Carolina
’s new Governor, I would be very pleased if you could join me for lunch
at the Governor’s Mansion in the next two or three weeks to meet and
talk about our mutual relationship.
I know
that DTNA has considered
North Carolina
as a possible expansion site for various operations and that it is
undergoing significant contractions at some of its current manufacturing
sites. My Secretary of
Commerce keeps me apprised of the status of the company’s opportunities
and my office met recently with representatives of the workers in the
company’s
Cleveland
,
Mount
Holly
and
Gastonia
facilities.
We would
like to see Daimler Trucks maintain and grow its operations in our state
and I welcome your thoughts about how we might keep the company’s
workforce and domestic manufacturing capacity strong here.
I look
forward to the opportunity to discuss these challenges and opportunities
with you. My office will follow up with yours shortly to explore a
mutually convenient date for lunch in
Raleigh
.
Thank
you for all you do for
North Carolina
.
Sincerely,
Bev Perdue
