Subject: Huddle Topic 3/9/11-Cost-Capital Update

Posted to the huddle planner for 3/9, please review with all employees.

The Manufacturing Engineering department has been tasked with the Capital Budget for 2011.  We currently have (3) major projects we are undertaking this year, and will use this forum to update everyone on the latest information we have.

1)  Mazak Replacement- This project is replacing the (5) horz. machining centers with 5 new machines.  We have gathered budgetary quotes on these and have the justification underway for funding approval.  These machines have a 30 week lead time, so we are targeting the week of Thanksgiving for installation start.  Demetrius Watson is the responsible engineer assigned to this project, and has held meetings with the area personnel to get their input.  We will be holding more meetings in the near future, if you would like to be a part of them please see your supv.

2)  VMC Replacement-This project was originally to replace M11, however, we may not be replacing it, rather adding another machine to our portfolio.  Eric Ferrell is the assigned Engineer for this project, and is just starting the quotation and justification process.  If you have any input or would like to be on the selection team see Eric or your supv.

3)  Laser cell addition-This project is adding another (2) laser cell with a material handling tower, much the same as J11 and J12 are presently.  We have gathered quotes from Mitsubishi, Mazak, and Trumpf and are going through the justification portion for funding now.  There will be a team formed for this as well, so that we may make an informed decision when we buy.  Demetrius Watson is the assigned engineer for this project, if you have any input see Demetrius, and if you would like to be part of the team, see your supv.

All toll these three projects represent over $5.3 million dollars worth of capital investment that Daimler is making to secure the future of this facility.  We are all very excited about the new equipment and look forward to a successful integration.

Information for the selection teams will be forthcoming, see your supv with questions, or if you have any input that may be helpful in reaching our goals this year.
