MYTH
Dues change often and without the memberships knowledge
Strikes happen every time a contract ends.
The UAW can make you go on Strike.
In contract negotiations, you start with nothing.
If you vote a Union in, your plant will close or move.
The UAW runs your local Union. |
FACT Dues are 2 hours of straight time pay per month. No overtime or shift premium is included . Dues can only be raised if you vote to raise them.
Over 98% of all UAW contracts are successfully negotiated WITHOUT a strike.
The only way the local can go on strike is if 2/3's majority of the members vote to go no strike.
Negotiations begin at your current pay and benefits you build from this point. It is against Federal Law to threaten that you start at zero in negotiations.
United States Department of Labor statistics report that 1 Union plant closes for every 10 non-union plants that close.
The members run their local Union. You elect your officers, you elect your own bargaining committee, you vote on your own contract, you decide everything at your monthly membership meetings. |
YOU ARE THE UNION'S REAL BOSS
