STEVE GAMM UPDATE
Hey
all,
I have
arrived in the Bagdad area. I will be working for the next few months in a hot
area SW of the city. Our FOB is named "Saint Michael's" and I hope he
is going to help us himself. Later this week we will be sent on to a little more
remote Co sized FOB so forgive me when I am not in touch as much. It will have
to wait on trips here to Saint Michael's where I am now. It is pretty primitive
for the living conditions so I am already looking forward to the rotation to
somewhere else in the country.
There is
no Brown & Root so there is no real chow hall, just MREs and an occasional
Mer-mite.
We do have sodas and gator-aid. Also there is no AC or other nice things,
but there
is an Internet connection. At the Co FOB there is nothing. It looks like a fun
spot
so far.
They had a shoot out at the gate here this morning and some sporadic fire about
500m outside the wire later on this afternoon.
The locals
lost 8-9 guys today in what I think was a drive up RPG/ AK attack. I don't think
they caught them, but I know they got the guys that hit the gate earlier. It
made for a nice welcoming in. LOL Add another car to the junk car collection
here. As for now, the tanks don't fit on the streets and canal roads so I don't
think we will be using them for the near term much. I am waiting to see what the
game plan is going to be. My guys seem ready so keep us in your prayers. I want
to bring all of them home together and safe. The unit we are replacing did not
do so well.
No King
but Jesus,
