Words of Wisdom
Chargeable Time:
. KEEP TRACK OF YOUR CHARGEABLE TIME
. 50 hours of chargeable time will result in termination. Meet with your supervisor
on a regular basis to check your chargeable time and insure it is correct. You are
not always informed of bad time you are charged with. If you miss work for any
amount of time (1 min. or 8 hours) you should check with your supervisor to see
how that time is charged against you. It's your chargeable time and it's up to you
to make sure it's correct.
. When you get your 24 & 40 hour warnings you will receive a copy of your
chargeable time, make sure it is correct. When you are given these
warnings (or before) is when you should question whether your chargeable
time is correct or not.
. Going over 50 chargeable hours is the #1 reason people are terminated from
this plant.
Mandatory Saturdays:
. Calling in sick on Friday or Monday will not excuse you without a doctor's note.
The doctor's note should excuse you from work on the specific Saturday in question.
. 4 of your 7 sick days a year can be used as "personal" sick days. These sick days
can be used and scheduled like vacation days. A personal sick day on Friday or
Monday will excuse you from a mandatory. Personal sick days are included in the
vacation percentages used to determine how many can be off in each workgroup.
. No Charge No Pay (NCNP) vacation can be used and scheduled like paid vacation.
These days will also excuse you from a mandatory when used on a Friday or
Monday and are included in the vacation percentages for each workgroup.
. A half day vacation will only excuse you from a mandatory if it is taken on
the last half of Friday or the first half of Monday.
Medical Leave:
. When you go out on medical leave you must stay in contact with the company
nurse and should also stay in contact with our Local 5286 Benefits Rep.
Jeff Kennerly. By keeping Jeff updated on your return to work status he can
advise you of procedures the company may neglect to inform you of. The company
has used private investigators in the past to check-up on medical leave cases to reduce the abuse of the medical leave policy. If the company feels it has sufficient evidence (video, photos, lack of or fraudulent paperwork, ect.) of fraud or abuse they have and will terminate employees on medical leave.
. Do not assume the company knows your condition or status and even if the doctor
says he will contact your employer or send paperwork, Make sure they do.
It's your job on the line so double check everything to insure you're continued
employment with Freightliner.
Workman's Comp. Injuries:
. The medical leave information above also applies to Workman's Comp. cases, stay
in touch with the company nurse and Danny MacEachern. As the Local 5286
Health & Safety Representative, Danny will help Jeff Kennerly handle the workman's comp. cases.
. You will be expected to make all your appointments with the company's doctor
and physical therapist, missing appointments could jeopardize your claim.
